Senior Sales Engineer | West Sussex | £45,000 + Uncapped Commission (OTE £50k+)
A hands-on sales role with a specialist engineering manufacturer — ideal for someone with a technical background and strong commercial instincts.
We’re working with a long-established UK manufacturer who design and build bespoke, high-value capital equipment for sectors such as oil & gas, marine and construction. Their kit is engineered to order, and their market niche is well-established — they’re one of very few players worldwide in this space.
They’re looking to appoint a Technical Sales Engineer to focus on both developing new business and supporting key accounts. You’ll join a small but experienced commercial team during a period of transition and growth, as a senior member of the team moves into a leadership role.
This is a site-based role in West Sussex with regular UK travel and international trips once established.
Develop and maintain relationships with B2B customers in industrial sectors.
Identify new business opportunities using a database of qualified contacts and outbound research.
Carry out site visits, technical discussions and product demonstrations — face-to-face sales is a key part of the role.
Provide support to UK and international distributors and agents.
Represent the company at trade exhibitions and industry events.
Collaborate closely with senior leadership, reporting to the Sales Manager.
A strong background in technical or engineering-related sales — ideally capital equipment or industrial products.
Able to engage confidently with engineers and technical buyers, with a commercially focused mindset.
Engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience preferred.
Experience developing new business — not just managing existing accounts.
Proactive and self-sufficient — comfortable finding and following up opportunities.
Willingness to travel frequently, including international trips after the initial onboarding period.
Experience working with overseas distributors is a bonus, though not essential.
This is a stable, privately owned UK business exporting to over 50 countries. Despite their international reach, the company remains lean and close-knit, with under 20 employees. Their equipment is designed, built and tested on-site, with full visibility across the production process. Culture-wise, it’s hands-on and practical — you’ll be part of a small, experienced team that values technical skill and commercial contribution.
£45,000 base salary
Commission (realistic OTE £50k+ in year one, with definite scope to grow)

Full-time hours: Monday–Friday, 08:00–17:00
3-month probation period
